Well, maybe that is the second best thing, the best thing must be that all of our work is done to fixed, honest prices. Absolutely no hidden costs and no call out charges.
What is CCTV drains inspection?
Essentially we send a remote controlled camera into your drain system. We also do this if a serious problem develops and we need an accurate diagnoses of the problem. But when you are dealing with a new home this is the most cost effective system to determine the condition of the drains.
CCTV stands for 'closed circuit television', and it can reveal a multitude of problems. Common problems which CCTV surveys of your drains can reveal include fractured pipes, collapsed pipes and tree roots
Fractured pipes
Excessive pressure on the ground above pipes, such as from heavy vehicles especially over improperly reinforced surfaces, can cause cracks in drain pipes.
Collapsed drains
Problems with drains left undealt with can lead to the pipes collapsing. This can be caused by th pipes being badly made, poorly laid or other damage. Although becoming rarer, there are still some properties served by pitch fibre drains which are especially prone to collapse. If a collapsed drain isn't dealt with quickly it will soon lead to a blockage.
Tree roots
Tree and bush boots have evolved to seek out moisture, and waste water is ideal for them. Not only does it contain water, but also nutrients in whatever other waste flows down the pipe. So any weakness in the drain will quickly attractr the attention of roots. Not only does this damage the drain by making a hole in the wall of the pipe, but the roots can cause a blockage.
The key issues with damaged pipes is health and safety. In blocked drains, the only way for waste water to go is back, either to your plugholes or your toilet. If the pipe is damaged and leaking then the problem is potential environmental contamination or worse yet, subsidence. Which can threaten the structural integrity of your home and will cost you a small (or not so small) fortune to correct. |
